About Us

We are a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, session workers and associates who believe that poverty, discrimination, prejudice and inaccessible systems across society are leading to an unequal distribution of good health. We share a passion to create a fairer society.

Our Vision

Our vision is for a world where unfair and avoidable health inequalities no longer exist.

Our Mission

We are on a mission to support and address the priorities of those most affected by health inequalities, and to champion the case for wider structural and societal change.

Our Theory of Change

We believe that the more control people have over their lives, the better their health and wellbeing. We provide services and support within communities most affected by health inequalities to:

  • Increase people's ability to identify personal priorities and goals

  • Increase people's confidence to make decisions about their health and wellbeing

  • Increase people's ability to act on their decisions

We believe this will not only impact the individual, but will equip and inspire others to take action to improve their own and their community’s health.

Our Approach

We always begin our work by speaking to local communities most directly affected by preventable health inequalities. Our current approach is underpinned by three key concepts:

Our Values

Our values reflect how we work with people across all our projects:

RespectFUL

We support people's right to make informed decisions and have control over their own lives to the greatest extent possible. We do not tell people what they should do.

Accessible

We believe in breaking down social barriers that prevent access to good health and wellbeing. We consider cultural, language and physical requirements across all our activities.

Curious

We are always seeking to improve our understanding of what we should offer to the community and how to effect change. We create and celebrate opportunities to share findings and to learn together.

Equality

We know how transformative it is to hear from someone with similar experiences and be treated as an equal. We bring people together to share their stories and support one another.

Collaborative

We believe that people and communities are stronger and more effective together. All of our work brings together and builds on the skills and strengths of local people and organisations.
